Don Rafa#1 800 South & State - Salt Lake City Utah

Food ordered: Today I got a carnitas (slow cooked pork) Burrito and 2 Carne Asada (Thin Steak) tacos, The carnitas was a really good at this location, moist and full of flavor.
I can’t complain about the tacos either, they were damn good! The carnitas was pre-cooked in a warming bin and put directly into the burrito, it would have been nice if it was on the grille for a bit to get an a lite crispy texture, but maybe that is why this location wasn’t so dry. The carne asada was also pre-cooked and in a warming bin, but this was on the grille for a bit to give it the right texture.

Ordering Tips: When ordering a burrito, they have the option for meat, rice and beans. After your burrito is cooked and the way you ordered it you make a trip to the salsa bar. After you fill up your burrito from the salsa bar you hand it back to the cook to add cheese and wrap the burrito for you. He give it back to you wrapped and in a foil so you can chow down. Don’t for get to grab a paper towel! Next time I am going to pass on the beans, they just seemed like to much of a filler and didn’t had much.

Price of today's meal: Burrito $3 + 2 Tacos for $1.50 = $4.50 (Don’t forget to tip)

Salsa bar: Hot carrots (a rarity), cabbage, red and green salsas, sour cream, pico de gallo, cucumbers & radishes.

Drinks at location: Bottled/canned sodas and water

Speed of service: Ordered and received my taco order in about 2 mins, burrito was done about 5 mins after that.

Location: West corner of State and 800 south, Salt Lake City Utah

Seating: This area has plenty of seating with a short wall all around the property. There isn’t any shade so get some sun and don’t forget your sunglasses.

Parking: There is plenty of parking at this location, it is located next to Sears and you can park in the parking lot or along side the street with ease.

Other: The cart is equipped with LED lights so they can stay open at night. The cook at this location was from 1 of my favorite carts which has been having issues and disappeared for the past 6 months. She did say that some time this month the other cart should be back.

Tacos El Toro 800 South & State - Salt Lake City Utah

Food ordered: Today I got a carnitas (slow cooked pork) Burrito and 2 chorizo (Mexican sausage with red pepper and garlic) tacos, The carnitas was a bit on the dry side but most likely due to me not using enough salsa. The tacos where actually the best chorizo I have had in a long time. The carnitas was cooked very well and off the grille was a lite crispy texture, just the way I like it. The chorizo was also cooked very well, not drenched in sauce as from past experiences and wasn’t crispy but had a great full cooked solidness to it.

Price of today's meal: Burrito $3 + 2 Tacos for $1.50 = $4.50

Salsa bar: Red and green salsas, sour cream, pico de gallo, cucumbers, radishes & jalapenos. This location isn’t my favorite for the salsa bar but cooks up some great meat!

Drinks at location: Bottled soda

Speed of service: Ordered and received my order in about 5 mins fresh off the grill

Location: North east corner of State and 800 south, Salt Lake City Utah

Seating: This area has plenty of seating with a short wall all around the property. There isn’t any shade so get some sun and don’t forget your sunglasses.

Parking: There is plenty of parking at this location, it is located next to Sears and you can park in the parking lot or along side the street with ease.

Other: The owner has said before he was going to start doing nachos. Upon asking the cooks about the nachos they turned and in a sporting way told the owner. Maybe soon? I will keep you posted.
